Yes, it is “Winter holidays”. We are going to speak about winter holidays in Ukraine.
We’ll revise the words, listen to the story about St.Nicholas, sing songs and read Christmas greetings from each other.
So, first of all let’s read the poem.
It’s winter, it’s winter!
Let us skate and ski.
It’s winter, it’s winter!
It’s great fun for me.
Winter is snowy, winter is frosty.
The ground is white all day and all night.

Yes, your hometask for today was to prepare envelops with Christmas greetings and some surprises inside them.
So, let’s see what is there in your envelops. Let’s read the greeting in your cards and try to guess who’s sent you Christmas greeting.

Let’s “Sing a song” Snow flakes, snow flakes…

- Stand up and come to me please. You should take the part of the snow flakes with the part of the word on it. Your task is to find the missing part for the word; asking other classmates the letters you need for the word.
Words: par-ty, win-ter, pre-sent, snow-balls, gree-tings, celebra-tion.

We are at the second station it is called “listening”. We are going to listen to the story: from start up “The story of Santa Claus”.
2.1. Before – listening activity: but before listening look at the screen. There are some new words for you. Let’s read and write them down in your vocabulary:
the North Pole – Північний полюс;
kind and generous – добрий і щедрий;
to carve wooden toys – вирізати дерев’яні іграшки;
to climb on the roof – вилазити на дах;
to throw into the chimney – кидати в димар;
sleigh – сани;
reindeer – олені.
2.2. Post listening activity.
Answer the questions:

– What man was St.Nicholas?
– Where did he live?
– What did he enjoy doing?

Each group makes its story text (3 groups – 5-6 sentences).
